Casa Salvati is a gem for individualists and
design lovers, an original architect house from 1972.
Between the years 1960 and 1980 Alberto Salvati and Ambrogio Tresoldi brought new life to the milanese cultural and architectural scene through their innovative style.
Both began their careers at the Politecnico di Milano under Carlo De Carli. Salvati and Tresoldi are known for their passionate use of color, a characteristic element of their work. In the early 1930s the architect Gio Ponti had already advertised the principle of interdisciplinarity in the architecture magazine Domus and suggested a collaboration between architects and understanding. Early on, he acknowledged the impact of the work of these two architects. Their projects were regularly published in Domus magazine. Other publications include "G.A. Houses", "Architektur & Wohnen", "G.I." (Global Interior), "Gap Casa", "Interni", "Milanocasa" and further.
Casa Salvati is a gem for individualists and design lovers, an original architect house from 1972.
In the summer of 2019 we took over the house and renovated it with great care and respect for original structures to preserve the charm of the historical architecture. High-quality design furniture in connection with the architecture give the house its special flair.
Casa Salvati is in its original condition (bathrooms, floors, windows) with all fixtures (kitchen, cupboards, room dividers, shelves, dining table). The kitchen (Rossana), was exhibited in the museum of modern arts, NYC and has been a regarded a design classic ever since. The monoblock island was the first of its kind.
Many large windows offer unique views of our olive garden within an endless landscape of cypress trees and pine forests that climb hills and mountains. This special place invites you to relax during the day. In between you should go to one of the many weekly markets, visit a winery, take a swim in the lake or cook together with your friends and family.
In 1972 the main ambition was the construction of three summer homes at the shores of lake Garda.
The designs were intended for personal use of the architect Alberto Salvati and his family from Milan. In the family's own olive grove on a hill between Gardone Riviera and Maderno, an ensemble with 3 cubes was created, which are aligned on the north-south axis and look like sculptures from a distance.
You enter Casa Salvati on the ground floor in the open-plan living room, with exciting lines of sight through the opening across 2 floors.
The room is zoned into different areas that flow smoothly into one another. Centrally located is the dining and fireplace area with floor-to-ceiling windows to the south, which can be fully opened. The original kitchen with kitchen block, a dining room with a round table and a small bathroom are located on your left. A round staircase made of natural stone leads to the upper floor with an open gallery, three bedrooms and a bathroom. The boiler room and two storage rooms are located in the basement.

The property comprises approx. 1000 m², planted with olive trees, cypresses and pines, and offers a covered terrace to the south, a sunny breakfast and barbecue area in front of the kitchen to relax and enjoy. There is also a table tennis table in the garden for a sporty game of ping pong.
Casa Salvati thrones on the picturesque west bank of Lake Garda, the "Gardesana Occidentale", on a hill in Monte Maderno, above the fashionable Gardone Riviera and the traditional paper-manufacturer town of Tocolano-Maderno.
The house is placed between the small hamlets of Maclino and Vigole, embedded in the Parco Regionale dell'Alto Garda Bresciano nature reserve. The wild and romantic nature that surrounds the house is characterized by a wonderful mountain and hilly landscape with lush forests, mountain pastures and olive groves.
The slightly elevated location above Lake Garda is ideal for all kinds of activities: on foot from the house into the surrounding landscape, which invites you to go for a walk and hike with hiking trails or go downhill for a swim.
Maclino is about a 5-10 minute walk away, opposite the church you will find a small grocery store, a Ristorante with a beautiful panoramic terrace and a pizzeria. The center of Maderno with the port, the lake promenade and the beaches can be reached downhill in about 20-25 minutes on foot.
The pretty towns of Gargnano, Gardone and Salò are approx. 10-15 minutes away by car.
Although most visitors are drawn to the east bank of Lake Garda, the west bank has its own charm: many centuries-old lemon gardens, picturesque towns such as Gargnano and Salò with the "Isola del Garda", glamorous places such as Gardone Riviera with its grand hotels and villas from the turn of the century, the botanical garden and the open-air museum "Vittoriale degli Italiani" transform the west bank into a special place. The mild climate allows lush Mediterranean vegetation such as jasmine, magnolias, pomegranates, bougainville, etc. to flourish and numerous sheltered beaches invite you to swim in early summer. Lake Garada is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Passenger ships and car ferries dock in the port of Maderno, and there are also boat rentals and well-tended swimming areas.
A couple of distances: Golf course in Bogliaco (18 holes): 10 minutes by car, Verona about 1 hour, Venice about 2 hours, Milan about 1.50 hours, Bergamo airport approx. 1 hour, Munich approx. 5 hours
The discovery of Casa Salvati was a long-awaited stroke of luck for us. A place that was preserved by us and designed with love. We invite you to experience Casa Salvati and enjoy unforgettable moments in this inspiring environment.
